HUNKER DOWN

Texas' third major storm of the season is bearing down on the Coastal Bend. At this point, most of the computer models have the storm making landfall Saturday morning, then coming inland towards San Antonio. The forecast here is for sustained winds from 40 to 60 miles per hour, with gusts around 80mph.

Today at lunch I went to Walmart to buy extra bottled water, batteries, and another lantern. Mel and the dogs freak out when the electricity goes out, and here in our neighborhood it goes out if somebody farts too hard.

San Antonio is also prone to flooding, as it is very hilly, with many low water crossings around the city. With low water crossings, come idiots who drive around the barricades in the road instead of turning around.

Tomorrow night we'll pull all the furniture and plants off the deck just in case, and I'll also download some podcasts to watch on my iPod if the lights go out. Until then, we'll just have to wait and see....
